The UK’s leading potato sprout control technology provider has announced a 20th season special offer for visitors to next month’s Potato Days.
Biofresh Safestore, which is celebrating two decades of installing potato sprout suppressant systems in the UK, will give show visitors who commit to a site survey on either day a ten per cent discount.
Organised by DLG (German Agricultural Society), Potato Days is a brand new event and will be held at Dyson Farming’s Nocton site near Lincoln on 4th and 5th September. Despite being the inaugural event, over 150 companies are exhibiting at the show and around 5,000 visitors are expected.
“Potato Days is looking like it will be a significant event for the UK potato industry, and we’re very much looking forward to attending and marking 20 years of using our expertise in Ethylene-based potato sprout suppressions to help store managers extend the life of their potatoes,” says Jeremy Barraclough, operations director of Biofresh Safestore. “Biofresh was established in 2003 to commercialise discoveries made by Newcastle University’s School of Biology, with the first Safestore system being installed in a UK pre-pack store the following year. Since then, we have gone on to install systems treating more than half a million tonnes of potatoes at farms and potato stores across the UK, Europe and further afield.
“The first half of 2024 has been particularly good for us, and we are hoping that by offering a ten per cent discount to people committing to a site survey at Potato Days the second half of the year will be equally busy!”
Ethylene-based potato sprout suppressant systems, such as Biofresh Safestore, are proven to be the all-round best solution for extending the life of potatoes without any chemical residue. The Biofresh Safestore system is the most cost-effective ethylene system available and can be used in box or bulk stores.
Au Royaume-Uni, l'éthylène est utilisé commercialement depuis 2003 comme alternative aux antigerminatifs chimiques plus traditionnels.
Originally targeted at providing a residue-free sprout suppressant solution for pre-pack crops, further to the demise of CIPC in Europe, ethylene is also used extensively in crops destined for processing.
